Hey there! You found us…come on in to Phools Country…Oops!, did you think we were going to talk about Pools, like swimming pools or betting pools or whirl-pools, because you didn’t remember that Pharmacy wasn’t pronounced like Parmacy, huh? Or that Phillip wasn’t pronounced Pillip? No…this Ph is pronounced like F…so here you are…in the company of Phools – Jess A. and Ima – in PHOOLS COUNTRY! WELCOME!
WHO ARE WE, ANYWAY?
We are two mid-eighty folks, who’ve experienced some things that others may not have experienced and we want to start conversations with others who’ve experienced things that we have not. How’s that for starters? Yes, we’re in our mid-eighties just learning how to get our thoughts out to others, to get some feedback, share some personal art works that have been created since we were a whole lot younger, and share some ideas and conversations. We’ve read a lot, dabbled in all kinds of creative activities, like arts, crafts, gardening, photography, writing, bowling…and even politics…the usual stuff that Phools get in to.
SO, WHAT ARE YOU LIKELY TO SEE HERE?
Well, we’ve said that we’re about Art and Commentary. So you’ll see some of both, because we believe that “Art should be both thought-provoking as well as aesthetically pleasing, not just “Art for Art’s sake”. And we also believe that “Knowledge is the precursor to Understanding and that Understanding makes Wisdom possible.” YOU CAN LEAD A MAN TO KNOWLEDGE, BUT YOU CAN’T MAKE HIM THINK!
For starters, here’s a short fable:
THE SEEKER
Once upon a time there was a Seeker of Truth, who knew of a Wise Man who dwelt in the hills. The Seeker arrived at the Wise Man’s dwelling and knocked upon his door, “Rap, rap, rap.” The Wise Man called out, “Who’s that outside my door?” The Seeker replied, “It’s Me.”, to which the Wise Man responded, “Go away, you’re not ready to learn anything.” The Seeker went away only to return several years later. Again he knocked upon the Wise Man’s door, “Rap, rap, rap”. “Who’s that outside my door?”, the Wise Man asked. The Seeker replied, “It’s You!”. To this answer, the Wise Man said, “Come on in, Myself.”
